VERTS was founded in Lima by brothers Josia and Elias Lyrer from Basel. Our mother is from Peru, and Josia lived there for almost three years in total across several stays. During that time, he learned firsthand how jeans are made. From this grew our own network of workshops, tailors and skilled craftspeople. Today, we produce in small batches in Lima, with people we know personally.

Two details set VERTS jeans apart: the embroidered cross on the back pocket and the embossed relief on the inner leg. Both are created in several steps, by machine and by hand, in Lima.
The Cross
Embroidered, appliquéd and washed. Only in the wash does the denim around the embroidery fray, giving the cross its rough, lively edge.

Artwork
The motif is laid out digitally, accurate to the millimeter,
and programmed for the embroidery machine.
Appliqué
A multi-head embroidery machine stitches the cross. The stitching joins a square of fabric laid on top to the back pocket.
Cutting
The top fabric is cut along the outline of the cross. The pocket with the finished cross appliqué is then sewn onto the jeans.
Wash & Finish
In the wash, the fabric edges around the cross begin to fray. The frayed edges are then shaped by hand.
The Embossing
Lettering, crosses and dots, embossed directly into the denim and set into the inner leg. Run your fingers over it: you don't just see it, you feel it.

Design
The pattern is laid out digitally,
with precisely matched
spacing and sizes for
clean embossing.
Embossing Die
The pattern is CNC-milled into an
aluminum plate. This plate is
the tool for every emboss.
Cutting the Panels
The triangular panels for the
inner leg are cut from the
denim according to the
pattern.
Embossing & Inspection
The die presses the relief into
the fabric. The panels are then measured and inspected before being sewn into the jeans.

The Wash
Every pair of VERTS jeans is finished using European ozone and laser technology. The laser precisely etches light lines into the denim, while ozone lightens the indigo without chlorine and with significantly less water.

Studies Industrial Engineering and Management at FHNW in Switzerland and oversees development, production and quality control on site during his regular stays in Peru.
